A Narina Trogon is a furtive, brightly coloured bird that lives primarily in coastal forests ranging from Tsitsikamma in the Cape, to Mount Meru in Tanzania. Sighting a Narina Trogon is a major coup for bird watchers, including the owner's son, who named the restaurant.
Like this elusive bird, we feel that Narina Trogon is a nod to the rarity of good food in a stylish setting in downtown Johannesburg.
The Restaurant
Every morning, the Narina Trogon chefs bake flavourful breads, cakes, muffins and pastries. We also serve different savoury soups and seasonal salads on a daily basis.
Their menu offers a full complement of dishes, both homey and exotic, that are updated frequently
Spaces
Narina Trogon serves seasonal contemporary food in urban Johannesburg. Over 100 diners can be entertained in a range of flexible dining spaces. In our lounge... at our bar.... in one of two smaller private dining rooms... in our bamboo garden ...or in the main dining room.
Bamboo garden
The communal table in the bamboo garden accommodates 12 to 15 people.
Private dining
Glass doors and an acoustic wall can be closed to create two personal dining spaces each offering private dining for 12. If booked together, 24 guests can be seated.
