Skukuza Camp
Johannesburg
Skukuza Main Camp is far and away the largest, and thus busiest, camp in the Kruger National Park, and as such often feels more like a town than a camp in the bushveld. As the original camp in the park, it has grown as a large and productive base for the rest of the reserve - most administrative and field tasks are orchestrated from here. While many might be put off by its sheer size, it is often considered an ideal starting point for first-time visitors to the park.
If you're looking for peace and tranquillity, give this camp a miss; if you're looking for home comforts and a variety of game, often spotted by other vehicles, then this is your best bet within the Kruger Park.
Skukuza Game Viewing
Situated on the banks of the beautiful Sabie River, and in the heart of Big Five country, rare and exciting sightings are possible on many of the nearby roads, and the sheer volume of cars means even the lazy spotters can be rewarded.
Common in the area: Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, White Rhino, baboons, hyena and a variety of general game. The area along the Sabie River is excellent for riverine birds
If you are lucky you may see: Leopard, Wild Dog, Black Rhino, Nyala and the Purple crested lourie.
Skukuza Accommodation
The size of the Camp also means that there is a plethora of accommodation to be had, from fixed safari tents and guesthouses, to semi-luxury riverside bungalows, guest cottages, family cottages, as well as a comfortable campsite. Check Skukuza accommodation types, pricing and availability
