Skukuza Picnic Site

Johannesburg

Gas and cookers are available at all picnic spots, but you must bring all your utensils and food with you. There is a shop here, with food and drink. This picnic site is away from the Skukuza Main Camp, so carefully follow the directions to this scenic spot.

Skukuza Day Visitor Centre is a superb place to stop, because it has a huge swimming pool, plenty of picnic tables under shady trees, and a good view over the Sabie River towards the old railway bridge. It is the largest picnic spot in the Park because it caters for all the Skukuza Camp day visitors.

Facilities

Shop with takeaway foods, cold drinks and sweets. An enormous swimming pool overlooking the Sabie River - an entry fee is charged for the use of the pool. Gas equipment for hire.

Features

The picnic tables have been placed under trees which line the bank of the Sabie River (there is no access possible by animals), and paths have been laid around the area, giving a neat but natural appearance to the whole area.

Location

The Visitor Centre is 4.5km/10 min north East of Skukuza, where the H4-1and the H1-2 roads meet. It lies outside of Skukuza Camp and it cannot be accessed from within Skukuza.
