Babalala Picnic Site
Johannesburg
Babalala Picnic Site is situated in the far north of the Kruger Park, and so it is perhaps not as well utilized as many of the other picnic sites. Nevertheless it makes for a good stopping place, as you can buy cool drinks, hire gas, and enjoy your meal in welcome shade. And, if you are lucky, you may see elephants drinking out of the top of the nearby reservoir - as in one of our pictures.
Facilities
There is no shop at Babalala, but there are gas cylinders for hire and cool drinks can be purchased here. Plenty of tables and chairs are available under the shade of the trees, as well as the thatched roof which runs around one of the largest trees.
Babalala Features
Babalala is situated in a very flat area, so there are no particularly significant features to be found here. However, Babalala is bigger in area than expected, with parking on the northern side of the spot, and the picnic tables hustled together under the only group of trees which are situated in the southern side of Babalala.
Babalala Location
Babalala is just off the H1-7, only 13 km/20-30 minutes from Sirheni Bushveld Camp. It lies 32km/1hr 30min north of Shingwedzi on the corner of the H1-7 and the S56. It is 41 km/2hr south of Punda Maria.
