Thomas Barker set out to create something unique, a restaurant that sets its self apart from the thousands of other eateries which call Johannesburg home. The success of his creation is proven by the 30 seater Thomas Maxwell Bistro doubling in size to 65 seats only after a few years of opening its doors.
The bistro is an exquisite mix of French food with a New York style ambience. Barker's menu focuses upon simplicity, the quality of fine, fresh ingredients and classic combinations which give his food that unique taste. The menu encourages patrons to explore their sense of taste by offering new twists on well known dishes.
The expansion of the restaurant saw a redevelopment of the interior. A large comfortable, open plan kitchen-come-dining room offers the diner an inviting look into the creation of their food while the 50s retro styling of the room gives a chic impression of a New York restaurant.
With great food and an award winning wine list the Thomas Maxwell Bistro is a fantastic choice for an A grade meal in the city. With its growing popularity, bookings are essential.
