Lesedi Cultural Village is located in the heart of the African bushveld amidst the rocky hills within the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site. The monument is 40 meters high and is constructed from granite. The structure is an impressive example of Afrikaner architectural style and is adorned with intricate sculptures and carvings that depict the struggles and triumphs of the Voortrekkers. Thousands of Afrikaners gather in and around the Monument every year on 16 December to commemorate the Vow and look on as a ray of sunlight shines through the opening in the top dome of the Monument at exactly 12:00 and fall on the center of the cenotaph to illuminate the words, “Ons vir jou, South Africa” (We for thee, South Africa).Includes
