Peacemakers Museum
Johannesburg
The Peacemakers Museum was created to honour the dedicated people who risk and devote their lives in the hope of creating world peace. The inspirational exhibit demonstrates the power of the individual, that one person can make a difference in the world. This museum celebrates some of the success these people have had in making the world a better place. Here yopu can learn more about Nobel Prize Laureates such as Albert Luthuli, Desmond Tutu, FW de Klerk and Africa's much-loved Nelson Mandela.
There is also a special exhibit in honour of Africa's most iconic peacemaker, which is called 'We Love Mandela'. You can also make a paper dove in a symbolic pledge for world peace and hang it in the museum for all to see. The museum is certainly a place for quiet reflection on the struggle that some brave people have gone through for the greater good, not only of South Africa, but all of humanity. Its a great place to learn about Africa's often turbulent history.
Located in Nelson Mandela Square, not far from the Peasemakers Museum, in Sandton, the Peacemakers Museum is free of charge.
