Joburg Theatre is more than just one venue; it is a theatre complex, covering several distinct venues and areas. It provides the ultimate theatre experience in the heart of the city and is one of South Africa's premier performance destinations.
The complex is unrivalled in terms of its creative spaces, comprising of three theatres, a news café, eight function rooms for private dining or corporate events, plus dance studios and a 'space.com' facility. The complex offers theatre fans a wide range of shows; from classical ballet to drama, comedy and pantomime. There are also plenty of options for the kids.
The Mandela Theatre, which has a seating capacity for 1,069 people and a stage floor that covers an area of 400m²; the Fringe Theatre, which has a seating capacity for 251 people and a stage floor of 72m²; and the People's Theatre, which has a seating capacity of 176 people and a stage floor covering an area of 52m².
