Kruger National Park

Johannesburg

National Game Reserves

Although Johannesburg is around 4 hours drive away from the southern Kruger Park, it is the nearest big city to the Reserve. This makes Joburg a gateway to Kruger, and this is why we cover it on My Guide Johannesburg.

To our knowledge, we are the only website in the world to provide Virtual Tours of every single camp and picnic site in the Kruger National Park. Our approach is to give you the opportunity to Look Before book; i.e. look at the multimedia and information on our site, and then move across to the Kruger Park website (see below) to finalize your trip.

The magnificent Kruger Park is almost 2 million hectares in size, making it the largest Game Park in Africa - and about the same size as Wales and Israel, so there is plenty for everyone to see and do. In fact, the main claim to fame of the Kruger Park can be summarized as being "diversity".

Animals

Kruger not only has a high density of lions and leopards, especially in the South, but it has an incredible diversity of animals present in a wide range of vegetation zones. This makes every days' drive a pleasure - you'll always find something fascinating to stop and look at.

Camps

One of the great features of the Kruger National Park, is that there is accommodation available for people with a wide range of "holiday money" to spend. You can spend only R110 (approximately $15) per person per night if you want to camp in the Park, yet, on the other hand, luxury accommodation will cost you around R700 ($100) per person per night. In between these two options, there is a wide range of affordable accommodation available. Not all accommodation types are available in each and every camp  - there are different types of camps in the park which cater for different preferences. The large well known camps with shopping and other facilities are more orientated to the first time visitor, whereas those which are more isolated and rustic with private access sand roads, are most probably ideal for the experienced visitors.

It is for this reason that we have prepared Virtual Tours of every camp in the Kruger Park - we want to give you a feeling for what each camp offers you.

Picnic Spots

Picnic spots are an essential part of your Kruger Park holiday. Whilst in the Park you should plan your route for the next day. Our recommendation is that you should plan to stop for breakfast after about 2 to 3 hours in the car - approximately 50km away.  From the Camp information, you can choose a picnic spot the appropriate distance away, and then take a look at it by going to the Virtual Tour of the spot - if there are more than one available, then you can select the one that appeals to you the most.

Scenic Spots

We not attempted to take Virtual Tours of all scenic attractions in the Park - there are an enormous number of these to photograph. We have put a couple of them up for you to obtain an idea of the range of scenery that can be found. Select the Attractions by following the link below to see selection we have prepared for you.
