Description
Come and experience the Cradle of Humankind on a half-day small group tour from Johannesburg. The name of this extremely important archeological site reflects the fact that it has produced a large number of some of the oldest hominin fossils ever found - the center houses 40% of the world's human ancestor fossils. The area is also home to a diversity of birds, animals and plants, some of which are rare or endangered. Explore the complex of limestone caves on site, including the Sterkfontein Caves where the 2.3-million-year-old fossil “Mrs. Ples” was uncovered in 1947, the most complete skull ever found of the early hominins. This was also the location where 'Little Foot' was found, an almost complete 2-million-year-old human-ancestor skeleton. You'll also get the chance to visit the Maropeng Visitors Center, a world-class exhibition full of fossils, tools, and more - everything millions of years old. A great excursion for families with children, take a half day to learn all about your earliest ancestors!Includes
