The Apartheid museum is one of the best museums in the country. here you will learn about the recent and painful history of the country. That is more especially during the times of apartheid. This was the period when people where settled according to their colour and race. The information is illustrated in vidios and pictures. in these vidios, you will see exactly how people where given the bad treatments, like torture, beatings and killings. Soweto is a township. Townships are those areas which where allocated to the black people. In those years, townships where regarded as poor of the poorest areas. Well Soweto at that point of time ,was regarded as the heart of the struggle. This is where most of the activists lived. This is where most of the strikes would start and then spread all over across the country. Today Soweto is home to some historical sites. These are in the likes of the Hector Peterson memorial, the Mandela museum, Regina Mundi church and the others. Soweto is the home to the one and only street in the world which has been the home to 2 peace Nobel prize winners, Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. In Soweto, you will learn the history and the different cultural groups living in South Africa.
