Begin your tour at the iconic Union Buildings, the official seat of the South African government. While the building itself is not open to the public, explore the magnificent terraced gardens, which offer panoramic views of Pretoria. Admire the architecture and the various statues, including the prominent Nelson Mandela Statue. Next, visit Freedom Park for a tour of the museum and garden. Enjoy a traditional South African lunch at a local restaurant in Pretoria. In the afternoon, visit the Voortrekker Monument, a massive granite structure commemorating the history of the Afrikaner pioneers. Explore the museum within the monument, learn about the Great Trek, and admire the impressive frieze depicting historical events. Step back in time at the Paul Kruger House Museum, the former residence of Paul Kruger, president of the South African Republic. Gain insight into his life and the political climate of the late 19th century. Begin your second day at the poignant Apartheid Museum. This world-renowned museum offers an incredibly powerful and moving experience, detailing the rise and fall of apartheid through various exhibits, photographs, and personal accounts. Embark on a guided tour of Soweto (South Western Townships), a historic and vibrant area. Visit the former home of Nelson Mandela on Vilakazi Street, the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Peace Prize winners (Mandela and Desmond Tutu). Learn about the 1976 Soweto Uprising and its impact on the anti-apartheid movement at the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum. Drive past Orlando Towers (famous for bungee jumping) and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in the world. Experience the vibrant atmosphere of Vilakazi Street with its curio shops and local eateries. On your third day, visit the Lesedi Cultural Village.
