Description

Visit the Mandela House, a world-class visitor attraction and a leading center for the preservation, presentation, and research of the historical heritage and Mandela Family legacy. Explore the house, which underwent a major restoration and restructuring project in 2008. The restoration goal focused on maintaining heritage preservation and conservation. Mandela House was closed for a year to source original fabrics to match the authentic structure of the space; construct a new Visitor Center, and the design and installation of exhibitions that display as a visual storytelling element. Learn about the extensive research and curation that was done to bring all the storytelling elements and the general spaces of the house, inside and out, together. Discover how the museum strives to provide an environment of mutual respect, dignity, and reconciliation in which every visitor relives the story of President Nelson Mandela’s home and his life as a whole.
