In 1882, at the age of 57, Kruger was elected President of the Transvaal and later took up residence at Kruger House in Pretoria. Your next stop is the Voortrekker Monument, situated in a nature reserve in the Pretoria (Tshwane) area. It commemorates the pioneering spirit of Afrikaners, and is one of the most popular heritage sites in South Africa.
