Tamboti Tented Camp
Johannesburg
Tamboti camp, a small fixed-tent site located just a few minutes from Orpen gate and rest camp, is one of the park’s true gems. The 30 budget and 10 semi-luxury safari tents offer an altogether different Bushveld experience, merging the magic of camping with the convenience of fixed accommodation in a seamless and comfortable way.
As with other satellite camps of this nature, there is no reception area or any other facilities located within its borders, and all administrative issues and activities such as game drives and walks are handled at nearby Orpen. This, combined with the exciting layout of elevated fixed-tents, makes for a unique and authentic outdoor experience.
Tamboti Game Viewing
The area surrounding Tamboti is rich in wildlife, and general game such as impala, zebra and giraffe are common sightings. Lion, cheetah and leopard also appear regularly on sightings boards, so keep an eye out for these magnificent predators while there. There is a walk along the Camp fence which runs next to the (usually) dry Timbavati River bed. A variety of game can be seen here.
Common in the area: Lion, elephant, buffalo and general plains game.
If you are lucky you may see: Leopard, Rhino, Jackal, Wild Dog.
Tamboti Camp Accommodation
All tents are on stilts and fully furnished; the budget safari tents have use of communal ablutions and cooking facilities, while the luxury option includes personal shower, fridge and cooking facilities. Check Tamboti accommodation pricing and availability
