Talamati Bushveld Camp
Johannesburg
Talamati Camp offers a degree of seclusion not often found in larger camps, thanks to a clever layout of the 15 family cottages. Despite being situated next to a dry river bed, Talamati serves up a diverse range of sightings, particularly in the dryer winter months. This is thanks to the clay base of the area, which holds water like a sponge, giving Talamati its name, which means “lots of water” in Xitsonga.
The open, luscious green valleys that characterize region attract a range of grazers, and predators such. Whilst game is typically dispersed and harder to spot during the rainy summer season, perseverance and early starts are almost always rewarded with unique and rare sightings.
Talamati Game Viewing
Common in the area: Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Zebra Giraffe and a variety of general game. This area is excellent for woodland birds.
If you are lucky you may see: Leopard, Wild Dog, Rhino and Sable Antelope. Several stork species are found here, and in 2001 a Narina Trogon was recorded.
