Sirheni Bushveld Camp
Johannesburg
Sirheni is another of the Kruger Park’s popular bushveld camps, which offer guests an unrivalled level of privacy and serenity, away from the larger, busier rest camps. Named after the Tsonga word for ‘cemetary’, owing to the recorded elephant graveyard nearby, Sirheni is situated on the border of the park’s northern plains, and is set on the banks of the Sirheni Dam. This peaceful camp offers guests two superb bird hides, which produce regular sightings of birds and other wildlife. Spectacular sightings of predators have been recorded from these hides, as they take advantage of the general game attracted to the dam’s water, while the camp’s resident leopard is also a thrilling and regular hide-sighting.
Game Viewing:
Common in the area: The surrounding region serves up an exciting mixture of wildlife, with elephant, lion who roam the plains, as do buffalo, elephant and spotted hyena.
If you are lucky you may see: The nearby grasslands surrounding Babalala have produced sightings of cheetah and wild dog in recent years. Reedbuck, sable and roan antelope are also worth keeping your eyes open for.
Accommodation:
There are just five four-bed cottages and nine six-sleeper units in Sirheni, each of which offer full self-catering facilities, making this the perfect peaceful escape for guests looking to spend time in the more northern regions of the Kruger Park. Check Sirheni accommodation types, pricing and availability.
