Brown Sugar Backpackers, is a superb 'castle like' mansion perched near the top of a hill. Built by the infamous Mafiosi Manne Da Rocha, Brown Sugar has an interesting history, and a very laid back and relaxed atmosphere. You will experience a home from home feeling the moment you enter the house.

It has a comprehensive entertainments area, which includes a pool table, darts, and plenty of games with which to occupy yourself. This area opens onto an enchanting patio with a great view, making it ideal for you to enjoy sundowners, cocktails and champagne, in true South African style.

Brown Sugar Backpackers is one of the most popular lodges in Johannesburg, and one of the reasons for this is that it offers a variety of accommodation to suit all backpackers' needs:

Camping: If you have your own tent, you can pitch it on the green lawn next to their swimming pool. From here you have a spectacular view of the surrounding suburbs and the City of Johannesburg.

Dormitory rooms: Mixed, Female and Private (4-6 bed) dorms with adequate and private bathrooms.

Single Rooms: Rooms are available with shared or private bathrooms.

Double Rooms: There are double beds in the rooms, with shared or private bathrooms.

Twin Rooms: These rooms have two single beds in the room for travelling friends or buddies to share.

Log Cabins: There are 5 Log Cabins with ¾ beds in them that can be utilized as single or double rooms. These have shared bathrooms.

Note: ALL the bathrooms have been tiled and renovated recently, and they are cleaned daily by their friendly staff.

Bonus: Brown Sugar Backpackers offers a free pick-up service from OR Tambo International Airport as well as Park Station, if you and your friends stay with them! Brown Sugar is well situated, being only 15 minutes from OR Tambo, and 10 minutes from Park Station.
